Government cannot protect us

Here we go again: more security theater, thanks to Maggie Hassan and the expanding police state. Sounds like a “tough on terrorism” campaign ad.

This statement is a good way to stoke fears, simultaneously provide propaganda for the myth of government protection, and encourage snooping busybody neighbors. To paraphrase: there’s no threat in the strategic location of New Hampshire, but police and homeland “security” will be out and about anyway, and you should still call “security” if you see something (or someone) you don’t like.

To me, those bombs in New York and New Jersey are a failure of government to protect its people. So were the 9/11 events way back when. Why in the world should people think that more government can help when they couldn’t do anything the first times around?

The most peaceful society is the freest one.
