WOW: Forrester endorses Edelblut???

Plain as day: Jeanie Forrester unwittingly endorses Frank Edelblut for the Republican nomination for governor. She says that Edelblut "'the guy at the end' who 'has no plan for New Hampshire.'"

If that's true, Edelblut is exactly the type of person who should be governor. We are individuals, and we have the right to plan for ourselves and not follow some top-down agenda. Who knows better about ourselves, our family, and our friends? The choice fight state and liberty is not planning versus chaos. It's about who determines the plans, about who plans for whom, as Hayek and Mises would argue.

Meanwhile, the Democrats are all pretty scary: increased taxing and spending, forced immigration, and more gun laws. Yikes. Will we long for the days of the Clinton clone?

More silly signage on the digital board before Exit 1 on 95N. A few days ago, it admonished us peons to slow down, or to buckle up, or something, and the follow-up was 

LIVE TO DO GREAT THINGS 

I think what they really mean is

LIVE TO PAY TAXES AND OBEY ORDERS

Anyway, yesterday the sign read

1 DEATH IS TOO MANY 

(or something like that). I began to wonder: how has this statistic changed since last year? I kind of remember it being roughly the same, but I can’t be sure. Then I began to wonder about Maggie Hassan et al.’s cell phone ban. Of course, that gang support it regardless of the trend, with either of the two following points: 

1. The traffic mortality rate has gone down. It’s obvious that the cell phone ban worked. Let’s pat ourselves on the back.
2. The traffic mortality rate has gone up. Obviously, the ban doesn’t have “teeth” to it. Let’s make it stronger and then pat ourselves on the back.

Win, win for them as they turn the ratchet.

Big spending up in Concord

Why is a $65 million "surplus" applauded? What it means is that $65 million more in taxes was collected than "should" have ("should," according to the government budget). Will the hapless taxpayer see any of it returned to them? I wish I could keep my money to accumulate my own rainy day fund. Unfortunately, I have to spend it to keep the bureaucracy alive.
