Pronouns

Some complaints about the lack of lanes on Portsmouth Ave have been circulating the web. A subtlety I noticed is that people who voted for spending tax money on the project originally said things like, "We are building infrastructure," or "We are improving our town." Now, the comments have switched pronouns: "I hope they paint the lanes soon." Why the switch?

A second point is to recall the importance of accounting for not only the proximate causes. Some complaints are about drivers who think the turning lane is a passing lane. But, of course, who owns the roads? Who maintains (or not) the roads?
