More silly signage on the digital board before Exit 1 on 95N. A few days ago, it admonished us peons to slow down, or to buckle up, or something, and the follow-up was
LIVE TO DO GREAT THINGS
I think what they really mean is
LIVE TO PAY TAXES AND OBEY ORDERS
Anyway, yesterday the sign read
31 NH DEATHS1 DEATH IS TOO MANY
(or something like that). I began to wonder: how has this statistic changed since last year? I kind of remember it being roughly the same, but I can’t be sure. Then I began to wonder about Maggie Hassan et al.’s cell phone ban. Of course, that gang support it regardless of the trend, with either of the two following points:
- The traffic mortality rate has gone down. It’s obvious that the cell phone ban worked. Let’s pat ourselves on the back.
- The traffic mortality rate has gone up. Obviously, the ban doesn’t have “teeth” to it. Let’s make it stronger and then pat ourselves on the back.
